Once in a while I get stuck whilst painting landscapes and still
lives... Then while I try to create a composition these strange
paintings happens.

Fragrant artichokes in bloom!
Artichokes from my garden, instead of eating the globes I let them
turn to flowers, and how amazing they are. They also have a very heady
sweet smell, like honey. This pot of flowers will be the subject of my
next painting.

Tree see me!
As I was getting into my car yesterday I felt someone looking at me
even though I was alone..... Then I saw it, this tree with an eye
looking straight at me. Strange!

A laser cut pattern by Tord Boontje, find the squirrel somewhere in

Lovely object
I saw this Richard Slee ceramic piece at an exhibition called "Three
by One" the "Crafts study centre" in Farnham. It's curated by Dame
Alison Britton. More info on www.csc.creative.ac.uk
I love the fact that it looks so organic and inflatable, yellow is
never my favourite colour for ceramics but here it adds to the
ambiguity of a piece that appears both natural and manmade.

New sandcast glass houses
This image shows the process of sandcasting crystal glass. Damp moulding sand is used to create a mould into which the glass is poured. I create 'pictures' in the glass by means of fine coloured glass powder and glass stringers. As the molten glass pours into the mould, it melts and disorts the powder and stringers in the mould. I love the element of surprise that's part of this spontaneous process, the hot glass glows and the images changes in hues of reds until it cools off and becomes hard. It's lifted out of the sand and annealed for 24 hours in a lear until it's cooled.
African inspiration

I am very excited! I will be leaving for South-Africa on Saturday for three weeks over Easter. I hope to get loads of African inspiration and paint some landscape and still life paintings while I'm there. Two exhibitions will start in April in the UK, 'Taste' in Will's Art Warehouse, where I will show mainly still life paintings, and some new ceramic houses, as well as a gallery 'focus' at New Ashgate Gallery where a selection of my work in a variety of media will be exhibited. Work on display can be viewed online: http://www.newashgate.org.uk. At the end of April I will be showing at the Glasgow Art Fair 23-26 April, and then at Artspace in Henley on Thames.

Problems with images
I'm moving my website to this blog and a photo album that will be easier to update. All images have gone across to Apple's gallery, but have been told that it's really fussy about the web browser you use. If you are having problems viewing images please let me know while I sort out an alternative. Thanks.
